We did a pretty ruling mashup last weekend, at the Red Chevron, if I do say so myself. Check it out here or in the Video section of my website. Also, please subscribe to my YouTubechannel.
The Thing About First Impressions...
April 14, 2026
You only get one chance to make a good first impression. My new cover band Triple Down Trio be taking that chance Saturday April 18th at The Red Chevron, in Guelph.
If you’re in the Guelph area, come check it out! We’re playing from 2 – 6pm downstairs.
I’m really excited about this band. If you’re going to start a trio, you need to make sure each member is very talented, and not to gloat, but I think we hit the mark! Hope to see you there!
Surprised?? ... ... I was
April 1, 2026
The Anti-Skipshave taken advantage of a last minute opportunity to line up our first gig of the year.
We will be playing Brothers Brewing, downtown Guelph this Saturday April 4th. The band starts at 9pm and it’s PWYC (pay what you can).
We’re hoping this will be a good year for The Anti-Skips! We played Cambridge and Kitchener Ribfests as well as Hope In The Street, in Guelph, last year.
Come hang out with us. I can honestly say, this band rules!
A Fantastic New Opportunity
March 22, 2026
I just finished three days of training with eps Canada. This company provides infastructure and management for all kinds of events. Some of them are absolutely huge!
I’m still a little overwhelmed by the experience and even the fact that such an amazing opportunity landed in my lap, but I’m hoping I can seize the opportunity and run with it. As usual, I’m gonna work my ass off to succeed.
Introducing Triple Down Trio
February 24, 2026
There’s a new cover trio on the block! I’m very excited to announce that I have a new cover trio called Triple Down Trio . This band made up of Jon Wyatt (Wyatt Productions/The Anti-Skips), Madison Daniels (Frantic Lullabies) and little old me. Our debut show takes place April 18th from 2 – 6pm at the Red Chevron in Guelph.
Bands Of All Shapes And Sizes
February 3, 2026
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m proud to announce that I am a part of several cover bands, in an effort to be able to provide the right fit for any concert, public event or private event!
It has been my goal for a while to make DMPC Entertainment, your one stop shop for all of your event’s needs. While there’s still work to do on that front, I am much closer to that goal.
Please let me know how I can be of service!
I Do Voiceover
January 21, 2026
Ok, I get it. The headlines can’t all be winners… anyway, I figured it was time to start pushing the voiceover aspect of DMPC Entertainment. If you need a voice actor, or any kind of voiceover work, please check out my latest reel and consider hiring me for your project!
The business has been growing each year, since I started it in 2023 and I’m really trying to make sure 2026 is a big year for DMPC Entertainment. Onward and upward!
A Tree Has Been Planted
January 13, 2026
Not sure if this will get any traction or not, but I just launched my Linktreesite. If you use the site or app, give me a follow! I’ll be honest, I’m old and I don’t fully understand what Linktree does, but the cool kids are doing it, and I despertately want to be cool!
Click the link above or the pic to be directed there.
Have a great day!!
Please Help If You Can
January 9, 2026
A 2 night stay at the OVC, 4 different meds, a pro biotic, a steroid and some B12, and Otis seems to be on the road to recovery from his recent IBD flare.
I don’t love being “that guy”, but if you wanted to help us offset his north of $4,000 hospital bill, and look good doing it, I still have lots of Otis shirts available.
I originally had these made when I hosted The Wok Show to raise money for him, and provide something cool in return. We can’t bring ourselves to do a go fund me. No shade, it’s just not for us.
Anyway, no pressure. I know times are tough. Just putting it out there.
First Gig Of The New Year
January 7, 2026
Sound gigs are coming in fast and furious! I’ll be doing sound Saturday January 17th downtown Guelph at Red Papaya. This is a KronikNoise Promotions show featuring Crimson Asphalt, Dreamwalker Equinox, Backbone and Lahore Wept.
If you’re in the Guelph area, come hang out! The Guelph music scene desperately needs the support of concert goers, music fans and night owls in 2026. Remember, if you don’t support the scene, you can’t complain when shows stop coming to town. Just sayin’
2025 In Review
January 6, 2026
2025 has been incredibly challenging as well as rewarding.
Struggles with anxiety, depression and weight management. Shifting focus to being a caregiver and POA for my Dad. Trying to get him through a divorce with dignity and enough resources to live the rest of his life in peace and comfort. Saying goodbye to The Wok Show: a podcast/radio show I had produced and hosted for almost 8 years.
It’s been tough, but not without it’s gains.
Multiple international gigs, including three in Japan with my buddy Apricity. The best year yet for my business DMPC Entertainment. A year of keeping Otis’ health issues at bay, for the most part. Starting what might be the most talented band I’ve ever been a part of, called The Anti-Skips. Getting my Dad into a top notch retirement home, where he is happy. Another year free from the vices that wanted to kill me… And above all, a bond with my amazing wife Mackenzie, that feels stronger than ever.
I’m going to keep trying to be better. The work is never done, but I intend to keep getting after it. I’m incredibly lucky to be where I am at the end of 2025, and I’m not going to waste this opportunity in 2026.
I wish nothing but the best to you and your families. I may not have The Wok Show anymore to build up those around me, but I’ll never stop supporting anyone and everyone that dares to chase their dreams.
All of the love.
Your pal,
D
P.S. yeah, I know… TLDR
Mission Accomplished
December 30, 2025
I had a great time going back to LA with the Apricity camp to play the legendary Whisky a Go-Go. A great set, supporting Quiet Riot, a great hang with session guitarist Aviv Hadari, who saved the day, a celebrity encounter (Corey Feldman caught our set and met us briefly) and more time soaking up the LA culture. Mission accomplished.
Living A Life Of Purpose
December 17, 2025
I just wanted to take a minute to shout out my new JamSchoolfamily. You couldn’t ask for a more talented, more passionate group of Musical Educators to work with! I’m proud to announce that I will be sticking around for a while as their live Sound Tech. It’s heart warming to be a small part of the development of some fantastic, budding musicians.
Content Is King
December 3, 2025
A recap video of the 2024 Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is now available! I had the pleasure of keeping time for KC Lee and His Checkered Pastfor this event. Check it out in the video section or on my YouTube channel.
Heading Back To Hollywood
December 2, 2025
I’m heading back to my favourite venue with Apricity ! We’ll be supporting Quiet Riot December 27th at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go, in LA.
Very excited to get back down to The States and spend part of the holiday season in the warm California sun!
All of my live dates can be found in the Live Events section of my website and advanced tickets for this event can be found here .
Econoline Crushed!!
November 25, 2025
I’ve had the pleasure of supporting Econoline Crush three times now, and I can tell you, it’s never enough… see what I did there? Anyway, this is a band I grew up on, and it’s been a real trip to not only share the stage with them in Kitchener, Thunder Bay and last week, in my hometown of Guelph, Ontario, but also to befriend bass player Troy Zak.
We’re obviously on the same page. We wore the same kicks and customized them in the same way. Great minds think alike.
It’s fair to say, Econoline Crush still brings the heat and leaves it all on the stage. A legendary Canadian band.
Arigato Gozaimasu, Japan!
November 22, 2025
We’re back home and back to the grind. Actually, because of the time difference, we actually got home before we left Japan! Weird, right?!?
Anyway, we had the best time getting to play three shows in and around Tokyo. The venues were great, the artists we shared the stage with were great and the people we met were amazing!
I had never left North America before this trip, so this was an incredible experience for me! A huge thanks to Apricityfor the opportunity.Another huge thanks to the Japanese people. Thank you for your hospitality and your generousity! It was an absolute honour to be your guest.
Good Things Come To Those Who Work
November 3, 2025
I present to you, The Anti-Skips. This is a workhorse cover band made up of seasoned guitarist and music educator Jeremy Pink, Sam Pattison of the Juno award winning Mandroid Echostar, young virtuoso Jon Wyatt and little old me.
We did Kitchener and Cambridge Ribfest, as well as Hope In The Street in Guelph this summer and we’re ready to book more shows! Check out our demo reel here. You can also follow us on facebook and instagram. We hope to see you around!
I'm Going To Japan
October 20, 2025
Just to be clear, that’s NOT me in the flyer… that’s Apricity! I’ll be keeping time for her November 11th through 13th in the Tokyo area. I haven’t been off the continent before, so I’m stoked!!
Equally stoked to be reunited with American session guitarist Max Carrillo , and get to share the stage with Canadian music powerhouse Thomas McKay of Joydrop! Max and Tom will be handling guitar and bass duties on this run.
What can I say? I love what I do!
Sir Mix-a-Little
October 7, 2025
Sir Mix-a-Lot was taken… In any case, I’ve been getting a ton of sound tech gigs lately! Everything from weddings, to a regular gig at Jamschool, to my usual punk and metal gigs.
I really enjoy delving further into live audio. I started doing it, thinking it would bring in a few gigs to help the business. I had no idea it would become the main function of DMPC Entertainment. Gotta say, I’m into it!
The End Of An Era
September 24, 2025
It’s been an incredibly hard decision to make, but after almost 8 years, The Wok Show will be coming to an end. With my business growing, my role as a caregiver expanding and the show’s workload constantly increasing, I couldn’t keep up.
I made a ton of new friends along the way and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. I might do one last episode, explaining this in more detail. Right now, it’s still a bit too painful to bring myself to do. Just goes to show how much love I have for this thing we built and all of you, for helping me build it. Thanks for your support over the years!
It's Been A Good Year So Far
June 28, 2025
While it was a really slow start to 2025, things have definitely picked up, by the half way point! Some American gigs, lots of PA rentals and Sound Tech gigs, and some great gigs coming up!
The schedule is filling up, but there’s still time to enlist my services. If you need a session drummer, a PA, a Sound Tech, voiceover work, drum lessons or a kick ass cover band for your show or private event, hit me up!
I love what I do and I work hard for my clients!
A True Milestone Moment
May 1, 2025
To every guest that has made time for the show, to every one of my wonderful sponsors past and present, to my wife who put up with years of people coming into the house that even I didn’t know, to Steve Vargas of Taker Wide, who got me started, to Krys Kimberly of Hypernova Radio, who kept me going and to every single person who has ever listened to the show, even if you bailed half way through or routinely skip the intro, thank you.
If you haven’t checked out the show, find The Wok Show section of my website or check out the show’s Linktree .

California Love
January 29, 2025
I had a great time in Hollywood, keeping time for Apricity! We had the pleasure of playing the world famous Whisky A Go Go, supporting the legenday London. Gotta CYA
January 11, 2025
In today’s world, especially now that I’m on internet radio, I gotta cover my… butt… So Hypernova Radio and I came up with a music submission form.
Click hereto access the new Google Form and submit your music for the show!
Because the News section is constantly updated, access to the music submission form can also be found in The Wok Show section of my website.
This is absolutely free! Take advantage, my fellow musicians. High tide raises all ships.
2024... M I Rite??
January 3, 2025
2024 was the first full year out from under one of the greasiest companies imaginable, andon to greener pastures, in terms of employment, and my own business.
Corny as it sounds, I really do feel like I’ve been given a new lease on life. I’ve tried to honour it by working as hard as I can, by learning a ton of new things and by saying yes to as many new opportunities as possible. All while honouring my core values as a worker, a new entrepreneur, a proud husband and hopefully a good person.
I can’t wait to hit the ground running in 2025. I have full confidence that I’ll end up happier, healthier, wealthier and wiser by the end of it and I wish the same for all of you. They say the best time to course correct was a long time ago, but the second best time is today. All the best things in life to you and your families in 2025!

A New Show In The Works
December 7, 2024
Big Things Coming Soon is a new show I’m working on, that will be available on The Wok Show feeds. It’s going to be similar to TWS, still in the spirit of highlighting the achievements of musicians, artists and entrepreneurs, but it will be more of a variety show. The Wok Show has a format that works well, and I don’t want to disrupt that. I’m hoping BTCS will be more community based, with lots of opportunity for listener input and feedback. Keep your eyes peeled to the website and The Wok Show socials! I’ll keep you posted.

An old partnership has been renewed! Heartbeat Percussion looked after my cymbal needs back in my Arise And Ruin days, when they were distributing for Alchemy and Istanbul. They have their own cymbal line now, and it rules! Check out their website to see the cymbal combination I’m using, and their huge catalog!

I’ve been enjoying some steady growth ofDMPC Entertainment! I bought a fantastic PA system over time, but I didn’t realize there would be such demand for PA rental and delivery! Well, I live to serve! Hit me up if I can help with your event.
America, f*%k yeah!

Making Moves
I started DMPC Entertainment last summer to compartmentalize all of the things I do as a musician, podcast host and an entrepreneur. I’m happy to announce that DMPC will be teaming up with Tyler Klumpenhower of SADCO ARTS to provide custom merch! We’re in the process of getting some updated equipment to meet your needs! In the meantime, give SADCO a follow and keep an eye on my websitefor updates!
Otis Shirts Are Here
Allow me to present the brand new Otis t-shirt! I partnered up Tyler Klumpenhower of SADCO to find a way to raise money for Otis’ rising vet bills, as he battles with IBD. E-mail me at contact@derekprincecox.com if you want one! They’re going for $25 plus shipping. These shirts turned out great and I’m stoked to continue to work with Tyler!
Look Good And Help Me Pay The Vet Bills
If you listen to The Wok Show, and don’t skip the intro, first off, I LOVE YOU! Secondly, you’re probably aware that my pooch and the show’s co-pilot Otis is battling a gastro intestinal disease called IBD. It’s kinda like chron’s disease. There is no cure for IBD and he is dealing with another round of flare ups. I’m not a GoFundMe kinda guy, so I teamed up with Tyler Klompenhowzer of SADCO and Artwork By TK to produce a killer t shirt! All the proceeds will go towards Otis’ vet bills. There’s no tax receipt in it for you, but we sure would appreciate your support! Updates coming soon!
The Perfect Cover Band Doesn't Exi...
I’m so stoked to announce that I will be playing some gigs with Nevermind The 90’s! This band rips and couldn’t be more up my alley! Give them… us… I dunno… anyway, follow this killer band on facebook and instagram !! Hope to see you at a gig somewhere!
2023 Was A Year Of Growth
Every year has it’s ups and downs, but all things considered, 2023 was one of the best years I can remember! The most gigs I’ve had since I was touring North America, my first fly in gig, another year of sobriety, the launching of my business DMPC Entertainment, the exiting of a 17 year career in the corporate media machine and the entry into a lifestyle centred around entrepreneurship, true passion and a code of ethics that doesn’t make me want to vomit.
Whether you’ve come out to a show, listened to an episode of the podcast, or a piece of music I’ve been associated with, even if you just happened to stumble on this website, I appreciate you. Entrepreneurs do not exist without your support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for pitching in, to allow me to inch closer to my dream of doing what I love for a living. I’m going to keep the pedal to the metal in 2024 and see how much ground I can cover.
All the best to you and yours. I hope you have a safe, productive and enjoyable 2024!
Your pal,
Derek

New Kids On The Block
If you could smell amps cookin’ and a burly sweaty drummer last night in Guelph, I’m sorry and you’re welcome! My new trio played our second gig at Fixed Gear Brewing. This project is brand new and I must say, I love it! We’re just calling it Trick Derek Brent for now, we’ll see what happens. Definitely looking to get this band out there. If you need a shredding cover trio, hit me up at contact@derekprincecox.com
A New Chapter & More Cool Shows
I don’t know if you heard about the closure of Metroland Media and subsequent layoffs, that were all over the news, but, yup… it affected yours truly. What does this mean? It means I need to sing for my supper! I was hoping to comfortably transition into a full time musician, but I no longer have that luxary. It’s odd jobs and gigging, baby! I’ll be keeping time with Apricity, in support of Econoline Crush and Partner! Get your tickets here.
A Big Show Announcement & a Contest
Follow @apricityofficialmusic and @thewokshow on Instagram or Apricity Music and The Wok Show on Facebook. Then tag them in a post saying “I want Dead Daisies tix”. Every poster will be entered into a draw for a pair of tickets to the show! Winner announced on Sunday August 20th on The Wok Show and Apricity/The Wok Show socials!
Lots Of Shows Including a Fill In Gig
Fellow Other Guy, Jeremy Pink and I will be joining KC Lee and His Checkered Past as fill ins for a private event in September! I very much enjoy the challenge of trying to fill someone else’s shoes for a day! If you need a session drummer, hit me up at contact@derekprincecox.com . Check the Live Events section for upcoming gigs and show KC Lee and His Checkered Past some love by following on Facebook!
Hyperlinked Is a Cool Word
These aren’t just pretty pictures. Most of the images and all of the logos on the site are hyperlinked, including my discography! I’m still in the honeymoon phase of web design, so I hope you have as much fun and spend as much time on the site as I have! In the timeless words of Ace Ventura “Go ahead. Snoop aroooooound”.
Hey Look! A New Website!
I love it when a plan comes together! After a year plus of being back in the saddle, I’ve decided to turn it up a notch, getting back into the freelance drumming thing, increasing the number of monthly episodes of The Wok Show and registering DMPC Entertainment to keep it all above board. I’ve decided to make a firm commitment to chasing my dream, only this time, the dream is a little more practical. I want to do what I love for a living. Maybe not a rich living, and I know this will entail wearing 10 hats as opposed to 1, but I’m going to give it my all. Without getting too into the weeds, after my Mom passed in 2018 and my Dad suffered a life altering stroke almost 2 years later, to the day, I decided to get sober and take as much control of my life as humanly possible… well, I went on a major bender before that, but eventually I got there. Part of having control is financial freedom, and part of financial freedom is choosing how you make your living. So here I am, launching a website and asking you to support in any way you can. Come to a show, buy some merch, or music. If you’re looking to book a band, hit me up! If you need drums on your album or need a fill in to get you through a gig you can’t bring yourself to back out of, please feel free to let me know! If you’re a fellow business owner and you want to advertise on The Wok Show, I’m happy to talk with you about some options! I’ll keep you all in the loop as much as I can.
